Sundays, September 12–November 28 6:00–7:15 PM Students, get a jump on your "higher education." Come grow in God's Word in a small group setting and learn to apply the Bible to your life right now — at school, at home, and with friends. You'll get the truth and develop a strong biblical worldview.
Fall topics include:
1. Doctrine • Room 232 All across America today countless Evangelical Christian teens know very little about the doctrine of the Christian faith! This class will deal directly with the beliefs and practices of Christian doctrine and the importance it has in young teens' lives. If you want to grow deeper in your faith and/or have tons of questions regarding Christianity, then this class is for you! Course Lessons: Week 1 Knowing God Week 2 Understanding the Bible Week 3 Discovering Humanity Week 4 Investigating Angels and Demons Week 5 Encountering Christ Week 6 Working of the Holy Spirit Week 7 Believing Salvation Week 8 Awaiting the Return of Christ
2. Apologetics • Room 231 Now more than ever young Christians need to be prepared to defend their faith against the onslaught of lies and humanistic propaganda that consumes our culture today. This course will help students lay a firm foundation so that they can feel bold and confident in defending their faith. If you are looking for ways to respond or answer questions to your Christian faith, this class will equip you to do just that!
3. Pure in Heart • Room 233 So many young girls are lost and confused about their identity, caught up in their looks, and pursuing meaningless acceptance and approval from the world. What does the Bible have to say? How do you remain pure and dedicated to the holiness of God? Pastor Jason's wife, Celia Jimenez, will address these issues in a personal and biblical fashion as she mentors high school girls on how to become a real woman of God.
4. Crown Financial • Room 226 Far too many young people are getting into major debt before they even graduate college! This is the perfect opportunity to develop biblical financial principles to help plan your future—debt free! Register now
5. Friends • Room 234 Parents, teachers, and pastors like to think they're the most influential in a student's life, but students spend more time interacting with their friends than with anyone else. Friends influence every part of your life—how you act, what you wear, what you say, and most importantly what you believe. In these four power-packed video sessions, Sean McDowell offers biblical insight into the most common issues students face in their friendships:
Week 1 Loneliness Week 2 Peer Pressure Week 3 Comparisons Week 4 Identity The second series in our study of Friends is entitled, Am I Happy? Students will share the trials and struggles they face in their search for happiness. Sean McDowell offers Biblical insight into the fleeting nature of happiness and the true meaning of joy in these powerful videos: Week 5 Searching for Happiness in Relationships Week 6 Searching for Happiness in Accomplishments Week 7 Searching for Happiness in Appearances Week 8 Searching for Happiness Despite Circumstances
Youth University meets for a Fall Semester and a Spring Semester each year. Classes will resume on September 12, 2010.
