Food Services Assistant Manager
Summary: The Food Services Assistant Manager is a full-time position supporting the Food Services Manager in overseeing the ministry of Calvary Church Food Services.
The Assistant Manager interfaces with all church ministries. Responsible for coordinating routine and emergency maintenance of Food Service equipment. Manages Food Services employees in the day-to-day performance of their areas of responsibility.
Candidate should demonstrate a firm commitment to the Calvary Articles of Faith, Mission & Purpose, and Philosophy of Ministry. Calvary Church membership is preferred.
Ministry Specific Responsibilities:
- Prepares and manages the Food Service Department budgets.
- Maintain stock levels and Food Service supplies within budget.
- Possess strong procurement and negotiation skills.
- Obtain quotes and tenders from vendors and suppliers.
- Ensure delivery schedules, quantity, and quality criteria are met.
- Review monthly financial statements to identify areas of concern and take appropriate action when necessary.
- Prepare and submit monthly reports to the finance department.
- Regularly review vendor pricing to ensure best value and compliance with buying group guidelines.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety standards and industry codes.
- Provide prompt response to Food Service requests and issues from Ministry Leaders.
- Plan menus for all ministry events requesting Food Service support.
- Plan weekly menus for the Calvary Child Development Center.
- Monitor food rotation and inventory levels.
- Follows menu, portion controls, and presentation specifications as set by the supervisor.
- Prepares items in advance for catering events (e.g., desserts, main entrée, platters).
- Assist with Food Services support for ministry events as assigned by the Food Services Manager.
- Performs additional responsibilities, although not detailed, as requested by the Food Services Manager.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of two years of hands-on experience in the food service industry.
- Minimum of three years of experience as a cook in a commercial kitchen is required.
- Possess two or more years of proven experience in large catering, food ordering, and other relevant culinary experience.
- Previous experience and understanding of conference planning and scheduling.
- ServSafe Certification is required.
- Keyboard skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.
- Must be well organized, detail-oriented, and customer-focused — a self-starter.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Word, and Excel.
- Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
